Unfortunately, this spring break Nutmeg unexpectedly died. I loved my little Kartoffel (Potato) and it was very sad to see her pass, she is now with her sister Lulu in Heaven and is no longer sick. On a happier note, Nutmeg didn't leave her cage empty! Shortly before her death we bought her two new babies to keep her company! And when she passed they mourned her as well and now are taking over the cage! Whispy and Glacier I swear are Lulu re-incarnated as two! Whispy is a dark grey and white hooded rat and Glacier is albino. My dad has already nicknamed them Skunk Rat and Red-Eyes.I can't wait for you guys to meet them!
Nutmeg and I thank you for your miracles and well wishes you sent our way! Unfortunately, Lulu has passed away and is now in a better place, but she did perk up for a few days as rats do when they are close to passing. Lulu got to run around and spend some quality time with me and her longtime sister Nutmeg. Nutmeg is still kickin' and enjoys getting ALL of the treats, ALL of the food, ALL of the snuggles, and ALL of the attention! Can you blame her? Though I will be happy when the two sisters are reunited again.
Hello readers! You already know that I have two amazing rats but what you may not know is that I rescued them, and because of that I do not know for sure how old they are. Now, rats don't live very long only for about 2-3 years and when I got my girls we guessed that they were around a year and a half. Unfortunately, we have noticed that Lulu is struggling. She was slightly fat and never stayed in the same place twice and ate like she was a bottomless pit.
Lately Lulu has been getting older she is no longer fat and I can feel her bones more easily know, she sort of crawls on her belly to get places and isn't very fast, she will only eat mushy or liquid food, not her usual lab block. Lulu also is losing strength in her front arms and fingers, she can't clutch, grab, hold, fist, climb, or walk very easily anymore. I know rats age fast and don't live long and I dislike that about them, they steal your hearts and don't give them back. Please send your holiday miracles Lulu's way (and forget about Nutmeg! She is doing fine by the way) we would appreciate it! Welcome to the family! Last night my family and I drove to Oregon to retrieve my new cuties whom we bought on Craigslist. My two new female rats are adorable! They are really sweet and gentle and good with kids. They love to snuggle and play and of course, they like to eat! From what I have discovered so far, they like McDonalds french fries and honey nut Cheerios the best! The tan ones name is Nutmeg and the black and white ones name is Lulu! (Lulu is crazy! She can't sit still for one minute! Reminds me of Wallie...) Do you think rats will be the perfect new pets for you? (preferably get two or they will get lonely and die because of it) Let me know in your comment! Aren't they just precious?
Nutmeg (first) Lulu (second) Welcome to the family! Just yesterday my sister adopted a new bunny! She is super sweet and loves to be pet, she is a little shy though. The new bunny's name is S'mores because of the colors on her body, she also has a bad leg and teeth problems, poor girl, but we love her any ways! We got her from the Oregon Humane Society in Portland, Oregon. S'mores loves to cuddle and eat her pellets, she is also very picky about how things look in her cage she also likes things neat, which is funny because that is just like Marie! Do you think a bunny is the perfect new pet for you? Let me know in your comment! Isn't she just adorable?
Welcome to the family! My family a while ago brought a new leopard gecko into our home! His/her (we don't know yet!) name is Spots (wonder why...), he/she belongs to my little brother Wallie, by the way his birthday is coming up! Spots is a very cute little guy/girl and is a great hunter! He/she enjoys tasty meal worms and crunchy crickets! Do you think a leopard gecko would be perfect for your home? If so let me know in your comment! Here he/she is below! isn't he/she cute?
We have made it! My family and I are in our new town in our new house, it has been very hard to say goodbye to family and friends I miss ALL of them SOOOOOOOO much! Can't wait to see them all again! And tour my home town like a tourist and appreciate the little things there in Michigan that we don't have here in Washington.
So many things have happened at once these past few weeks, dad got a job in Portland, OR now we have to find a house, bought the house so now 2nd week of May we are leaving MI and driving to Vancouver, WA! But thats not the best part, when we are all settled we are going to get pets! Wallie wants a leopard gecko, Marie wants a bunny and I want a kitten! If you have any good kitten names for me please comment them below! Note: it is going to be a boy.
I have recently taken my class pet Dragon who's a betta (whom I donated) home to check on him because we believed that he was sick, which it turns out he is. I researched his symptoms and found that he has Tail and/or Fin rot. Fin rot is a common symptom of a bacterial disease that can affect a variety of fish, from betta fish to goldfish. It is often caused by dirty tank, poor care, or exposure to other fish who have infectious diseases. Your infected fish may have fins that appear to be torn and ragged, as if they are rotting away. The Fin rot may also cause your fish to become discolored and lethargic. If fin rot is not treated properly, it can lead to permanent damage on your fish's fins and be fatal for your fish. Fin rot is also highly contagious and should be contained as soon as possible so it does not affect the other fish in your tank. ~wikihow
I am hoping that Dragon will recover and will live a long and healthy life! It has been a long time since I have blogged so you probably didn't know that I have 2 male blonde guppies, I had to separate them last week because they were fighting and one was starting to lose parts of his tale due to his tank mates constant "fin nipping" as some people call it, personally I call it bullying the other fish! So i had to put the mean tank mate into a mason jar while the other who was getting picked on gets the whole tank to himself. Now it has been a week and I have discovered that they are trying to fight THROUGH the glass! These guys will stop at nothing to get a taste of each others fins. Have you experienced things like this? Have any tips for me? Please let me know in your comments.
In my 6th grade class we celebrate Christmas by doing secret Sinterklaas, (or secret Santa) I have a person I give gifts to and someone has me and gives gifts to me, but the whole point is to keep your identity secret!

Hey viewers! I am going gluten free this summer because I just found out that gluten is bad for your health and that certain everyday symptoms I experience may be caused by gluten. Now, gluten is pretty much in everything we eat but more and more people are realizing the bad things about gluten, so I challenge all of my viewers to go gluten free with me for a month to see if your health is better off without gluten, those of you viewers who are already gluten free, you rock! you are probably way more healthy than me right now! Please keep checking my blog for updates on what gluten free foods I have tried and let me know what new foods you experience during your month of no gluten.
My family and I went on a walk on a trail and we were trying to find alligators but instead we found lizards, butterflies, and snakes! On our way back to the cars, I think it was Wallie and my little cousin Raina who found it but they found a little black snake shown below it was cool to watch the snake slither away and I am glad my dad got a picture of it!
One night my family and I went crab hunting on the beach in Gulf Shores Alabama, it started as just a fun family walk before bed when out of the blue my dad spotted this big crab in the water! After we found this guy we started looking for more crabs in total we found six crabs but that's not all we found! On our way back to the condos we found this big jelly fish that got washed up on shore from the storm the other day and this jelly fish was not the only one we found! As you probably already know my little brother Wallie stepped on a dead jelly fish and it made a popping sound like when you pop bubble wrap it was so funny but no one was stung we all watched out but that night was a very memorable night.
This little guy here my mom found when we were getting ice cream at scoops in Gulf Shores Alabama, she was just walking and then all of a sudden she cries, "the leaf is moving!" but it wasn't a leaf at all! it was this little guy he was scared when we were all staring at him so eventually he ran away and we carried on our way.
Hi! I am in my condo this morning and I have had so many animal learning experiences!!!! We had a storm the other day and there are jelly fish washed up all over the beach! I have never seen a jelly fish in person before! No one got stung but Wallie did step on a dead one! Last night we had a walk on the beach and saw crabs in the water they blend in with the sand very well and the only time you see them is when you are about to step on them they scurry out of the way and they freak me out! When you look around closely you will see little green lizards running around in the vegetation they are so cute and tiny. Yesterday we went looking for alligators and we saw one at the edge of a little island it was super cool! Also we went to the zoo and saw multiple animals and I found out what I want to be when I grow up, I want to be a zoo keeper with the animals!
This Thursday after school my family is leaving and going to............. GULF SHORES, ALABAMA!!!!! and I am so pumped! We are going to have a blast!!! Where are you going for spring break?
